Description: Ghost Bike Decorating Day. We need volunteers to help us decorate a ghost bike for this year's Ride of Silence. Ghost bikes are white bicycle roadside memorials, placed where a cyclist has been killed or severely injured, usually by a motor vehicle. Apart from being a memorial, it is part of our Mexican-American heritage, honoring our loved ones, and is intended as a reminder to passing motorists to please share the road. Help to personalize the ghost bike by participating in our Ghost Bike paint and decorating day. This is a chance for the community to come together to build more awareness for cyclists on our roads and to create a work of art.
May is National Bike Month, sponsored by the League of American Bicyclists and celebrated in communities from coast to coast. Established in 1956, National Bike Month is a chance to showcase the many benefits of bicycling — and encourage more folks to giving biking a try.
Whether you bike to work or school; ride to save money or time; pump those pedals to preserve your health or the environment; or simply to explore your community, National Bike Month is an opportunity to celebrate the unique power of the bicycle and the many reasons we ride.
